The Viva México team chooses Marina Coruña as its European base

The Viva México team has left its home port of Acapulco to undertake a transatlantic voyage ahead of The Ocean Race Europe.

On this day, 9 April, in 1974, the Sayula II, skippered by Ramón Carlin and representing Mexico, surprised the world by winning the first edition of the Whitbread Round the World Race.

Since then, no Mexican team has participated in the race. Until now. The Viva México team has acquired a VO65 boat and aims to participate in the 2022-23 edition of The Ocean Race. But first comes The Ocean Race Europe.

The Mexican team is therefore now en route from its home port of Acapulco towards Europe, with its sights set on a new challenge.
